Tools
As with any other construction there are variety of tools that you or your painter needs in order to create the look you want. just visit any hardware or specialty paint store and there are shelves allocated to different materials and tools from latex gloves, sanders, wire brush, paint brush, caulking gun, putty knife, drywall taping knives to rollers, masking tapes, foam brushes, plastic covers, spray guns, air compressors, sand papers, utility knifes and so on...

Cost
Once you decide on the colors and theme you can either do the painting yourself or hire a professional painter to help you. Painting a small area you can do it yourself easily, but painting an entire house interior or exterior particularly in a different color is another story. Prices varies depending on the method and color of paint. The more colors the more time you have to paint the same area to show the color right. Some colors you need to go over them 2-3 times!! to get it right..Cost of painting a project also depend on the method and technique such as hand brush, rollers. or spray gun and a type of paint and finish that is expected. To just give you a general idea to paint interior of a 4 bedroom 2 bathroom 2500 sq ft house just plain basic two color white paint semi gloss and flat depending of where you project is could be anywhere from $3500.00-$7500.00 roughly. By the way the best time to paint is when temperature between 65-85 degree Fahrenheit, any colder than 65 degree the paint becomes harder to work with.

Odor
Make sure there is plenty of ventilation and air flow because paint contains solvent or thinners that releases "VOC" Volatile Organic Compound as they evaporate. Although today's paint is made of synthetic resins called alkyds which creates less fumes and odor still you can smell the thinner in the paint which can cause health risk hazards. But the thinner content of a latex paint is always less that alkyd paint. People are using more and more of latex paint. The solvent content of a regular latex paint is around 8%-10% which in some cases has been reduced to 0% paint called "0 VOC ". the only problem is it dries quickly.

Preparing and Painting
Sometimes you spend more time preparing your surface to paint than the actual time it takes to paint it. Prepping , masking, taping and covering up is extremely important and vital part of the any painting job. If you short cut this step you will be sorry later. It's not worth it to rush the preparation and cover ups prior to paint. Have you ever heard the expression " if you want to do it, do it right the first time" it definitely applies to painting. You need to be very meticulous when it comes to paint. If you don't have the patient, know how or the time just hire a painter they will take care of everything for you.
