Garage Organization

Garage Organization
Lot of us use our garage to park our cars in, but due to the lack of storage space in some homes people use their garage to store their things in such as seasonal items. Over a period of time our space becomes so cluttered that we can't even walk in there, let alone park our cars in there. If you ever thought about organizing your garage as with any other project it requires a bit of time, planning and patience. By the way if you can have a helper to give you a hand it will improve your efficiency dramatically.

How to start

First you need to start by sorting your items under three main categories as follows:
1. Items you want to keep and store.
Ex: Tools, food, garden supplies, holiday decoration, car supplies, and home repair supplies.
2. Items you want to donate or sell.
Items you want to give to charity and goodwill, items you want to give to friends, items to sell at garage a sale or auction on ebay.
3. Items you want to trash.
Garbage, broken items, un useful items.
You can always create a sub category to your main category. The idea is to create an efficient and precise subcategory so you don't have to resort your items again. Start by making boxes and labeling them, try to keep items you use frequently together such as car cleaning items and maintenance tools. Get brown/black heavy duty garbage bags and start filling them up with donation items and put them on the side. Do the same for items for the garage sale and ebay auction items. As well as items that need to be trashed, fill up the bags and mark for trash.

Hiring help
If the project seems overwhelming, you can always ask for a professional garage organizer to help you out for a fee of $60.00-$85.00 per hour. Their help is unbelievable, the money you invest not only helps you physically by removing some of your items but also mentally. They will help you and coach you as to how you can change your habits to keep your garage more organized and maintained for a long time.
There is also a movable garage storage system that you can invest in. The way it works is you hang the system on your existing garage walls like kitchen cabinets and drawers, which is a great option for those families that move around the country. It is really a great system that you can put up and take it with you to where ever you are moving to.
